bottom's up

Now I can get down with a lot of stuff, but The Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup martini from Clive's in British Columbia might be where I draw the line. The bartender starts with home-made grilled cheese rum (he literally leaves a grilled cheese sandwich soaking in Mt.Gay overnight...) and then muddles tomato and basil. A splash of Lillet Blanc and some scotch and you've got yourself a liquidated classic - (maybe?).

What do you guys think? Thirsty?

la isla bonita

I've had the GREAT pleasure of spending some really wonderful times (my 18th birthday dinner with great friends and family, a long and leisurely anniversary weekend) at The Horned Dorset Primavera in Rincon, Puerto Rico. They have a wonderful old library - perfect for sipping mojitos and playing backgammon at sunset. And each villa has a private plunge pool!! It's featured this week on Jetsetter and it's got me jonesin' for a return trip! If you're looking for a place to get away from it all, I highly recommend checking out The Horned Dorset.

I love this image of 1960's gal-about-town Gloria Guiness. In a 1966 Harper's Bazaar interview, when asked if she always wore men's navy and black tops during vacations, she answered, "Yes - is that wrong?". Here she is in all her glory in Acapulco, Mexico.

I love these sketches illustrator Richard Haines did of Men's Fashion Week in Milan & Paris. The smudges and ink drops make them feel more accessible and loose. See more here.

It's currently sleeting in NYC - and rather than go to work tomorrow, I'd rather just wear this sweatshirt and stay in bed. Via out of print.

I have to say, I LOVE these works by the graffiti artist Swampy. Kinda reminds me of "Where the Wild Things Are." Makes me smile! Read more about Swampy here.

Shackin' Up

I'm a big fan of Scoop St., so when I found out they were having a members-only event at Shake Shack's new Upper East Side flagship location I was like "Oh snap." After some creative mouse-work, I was in and thankfully so. Cuz I like food. Free food.

Got myself a name tag and Shakemeister Ale. Then it was time to feast.

The omnivores dilemma.

And here she is, up close and personal.

Nothing like a classic Black & White shake to bring it on home.

The End. A big thanks to Scoop St. for a great night out! Looking forward to more Scoop St. Experiences. Sign up here to get your scoop on.

p.s. Check out my original post on Shake Shack.

Whistler Blackcomb XXS from Whistler Blackcomb on Vimeo.

I've been lucky enough to have skiied in some pretty lovely places (Zermatt, Vail, Jackson Hole) but this video makes me excited to check out Whistler Blackcomb. Doesn't it look like a tiny little play village? via black eiffel.

I am a total fireplace junkie (my bf calls me the Firestarter), but since I live in NYC and fireplaces aren't so common, I've been forced to live without one.

These images make me so excited to have my own fireplace one day! via lonny mag.

buffalo style

Winter weather always makes me crave comfort food. Here's a super healthy meal perfect for a night-in.

Buffalo Chili
Here's what you need:
Chopped bell peppers (yellow, red, green)
Chopped Onions
1 can Black Beans
1 can Red Beans
2 cans crushed tomatoes
1 bag frozen corn
2 chopped Jalepenos (w/seeds if you want it spicy!)
1 pound Buffalo meat (buffalo is lean and has less fat than regular ground beef)
Chili Powder

Saute the meat. Drain and set aside. Then put all your veggies in a pot til they get nice and soft. Add crushed tomatoes and drained beans. Add the meat. Cover and simmer for about 1 hr. Enjoy!

Orla Kiley and French automobile manufacturer Citroën, have teamed up to create an eco-friendly zoomer. If you're an Orla fan I'm sure this is on your wish-list. Would be fun for a girls only road trip! I'm definitely digging the little desk lamp inside. Too cute!! Plus, think how easy it will be to find your car at the mall now! via Elle.
