Happy Mother's Day!
Mother's Day is almost upon us, and this year, let's spoil Mom! Here's a list of things she'd love to have, but would probably never get for herself…
1. Movie Tickets to "Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's" - Brunch and a movie for a fun girls date.
2. A punchy clutch that you can borrow :)
3. A delicate ring she'll wear every day. Available here.
4. A day cream that's an upgrade from Noxema with a hint of tint.
5. This lipstick looks blue, but goes on as a sheer berry color.
6. A classic silk top she can dress up or dress down.
Have a good one, Moms!

Miss Daisy
This past summer I finally got around to reading "The Great Gatsby" in anticipation of the Baz Lurhamn movie! Such a great story, well-written (duh) and I couldn't believe I waited so long to read it! Now I am waiting with baited breath for the film to be released (it's been delayed since November!). Carey Mulligan who plays Daisy is on the latest cover of Vogue, and I just can't get over these costumes...For more great (get it??) images, check out Vogue.com. And if you haven't seen it yet, check out The Great Gatsby trailer here.

Even Artichokes Have Hearts
Do you like artichokes? I love them, but they seem to difficult to prepare at home. This NY Times article shows you how to make the most of an artichoke, and has me reconsidering my view. I'm dying to try the pine nut and ricotta stuffed artichoke…YUM!

30 British Minutes
On our most recent adventure to Switzerland, I decided to take a day off from skiing to lounge around the chalet and be as lazy as humanly possible. During that time, I managed to operate the remote control and stumbled upon a Jamie Oliver's 30 Minute Meals marathon. Maybe I was scarred from too many episodes of Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals, but I was skeptical. That is until about 2 minutes in when skepticism changed to obsession. Jamie's quick suppers are not only ridiculously easy, they feel fresh and different, even when using mundane ingredients like chicken breast. Since it doesn't air in the US, the complete meals and recipes are available online. I made the quick dauphinoise for Easter and felt decidedly British. Plus, it was really freaking tasty. You'll thank me later.
Marni Me
Recently I got a whiff of a close friend's Marni scented wrist, and it was love at first whiff. Not only is the package design decidedly chic (something I'd be proud to display on my dresser!), but the scent itself is complex; sweet and peppery with a hint of rose. Putting this on my birthday wish list!

ahoy!
Now, I'm a girl who loves the water, but my hat goes off to Sydney-based couple Sophie and Niki. They live on a 1960's sail boat! And I thought my NYC apartment was small. I'm sure it takes discipline, but it's probably pretty cool. For instance, Sophie's favorite part about boat-life? "Some nights I cook Bouillabaisse, open a bottle of Cote du Rhone, and we have dinner to the sounds and sights of the sea..." Must be nice! To read more about Sophie & Niki's boat life, check out The Design Files.
