I am a total fireplace junkie (my bf calls me the Firestarter), but since I live in NYC and fireplaces aren't so common, I've been forced to live without one.

buffalo style

Winter weather always makes me crave comfort food. Here's a super healthy meal perfect for a night-in.

Buffalo Chili

Here's what you need:

Chopped bell peppers (yellow, red, green)

Chopped Onions

1 can Black Beans

1 can Red Beans

2 cans crushed tomatoes

1 bag frozen corn

2 chopped Jalepenos (w/seeds if you want it spicy!)

1 pound Buffalo meat (buffalo is lean and has less fat than regular ground beef)

Cumin

Chili Powder

Saute the meat. Drain and set aside. Then put all your veggies in a pot til they get nice and soft. Add crushed tomatoes and drained beans. Add the meat. Cover and simmer for about 1 hr. Enjoy!

I wanted to do a little year end round up since 2010 was such a great year. So much happened! I got a new job, made great new friends and traveled to Spain, Switzerland, Nantucket, Sonoma, Bermuda, Montauk, Miami, Costa Rica and San Francisco.

I hope you'll stay tuned for 2011, which promises to be another great year! I've got trips planned to Barcelona, Austria, Northern California and Virgin Gorda. So here's to a happy and healthy new year!! xod.

farmin' life...

I just stumbled upon the blog Icelandic Butterflies and I've been spending some time looking through all these gorgeous images of farm life. Make we want to give up this crazy city life and move it on out! (but the posts about waking up at the crack of dawn to feed chickens, milk goats, churn butter brings me back to reality.)
